Hand Artificial - Testing

This is our first design of hand artificial prototype using two servo motors.

Unfortunately there were some problems in this design. Because of time constraint, we have decided to change our design by using one servo motor.

Latest Progress of Our Project

Venue: Mechatronic Workshop, KOE
Date: 5-9 October 2009

The Awning System (Noor Azlyn Ab Ghafar, Mahbuba Hossain & Nur Liyana Azmi)
1) already finish construting the circuit on PIC and the rain sensor.
2) currently working on the programming and the prototype.

The Artificial Hand (Soleha Idris, Najihah Md. Zain)
1) working on the mechanical part of the hand.
2) constructing the circuit

Next task:
The Awning system
- design the mechanical parts using Alibre
- find parts : pulley, cord, motor & frame

Work in Progress 1

Venue : Mechatronics Workshop, E1, Kuliyyah of Engineering
Day/ Date : Friday / 4th September 2009

Preparing the prototype:

- Material: Prospects (thickness: 5 mm)

- Measure the dimensions of the prototype (building).

- Cut the prospect by using cutter.

- Put the pieces together and construct a building.

The Embodiement Design

Venue : Classroom E2, Kuliyyah of Engineering
Day/Date : Thursday/ 3rd September 2009

Discussion:

- Draft design on the project. (roughly)

- Prepare some calculations to determine the size/dimension of the design project.

- Went to PDL Lab to find components and materials.

- Some of the materials needed for iRas prototyping
i. Prospects
ii. DC motor
iii. Pulley
iv. Belting
v. others (tbd)

- Designing the prototype by using CAD software is still in progress.. will be posted soon!

House of Quality & Functional Decomposition

House of Quality

Figure 1 :House of Quality(HOQ) for iRas

This is the House of Quality for iRAS. We had specified the customer attributes with respect to the engineering characteristics. Besides, we also compared our product's relative importance with our competitors which are the manual awning system and permanent roof.

Functional Decomposition

Figure 2 The Functional Decomposition of iRAS

There are four subsystems in this system which are the rain detector, retractable system, motor as well as the power supply. The inputs are the energy and the water drop meanwhile the output is the moving awning.

Questionnaire Result & Customer Needs Tree

Salam and greetings...
Venue: GPCL E3, KOE
Time: 11am
Attendance:
Nur Liyana Azmi
Soleha Idris
Najihah Md. Zain
Noor Azlyn Ab Gahfar (MC)
Mahbuba (absent)
Agenda:
1. Our first agenda is that we analyze and evaluate the iRAs questionnaire. The questionnaire has been distributed to 100 students in IIUM. Refer figure 1 for the result.
2. Prepare Customer Needs Tree. Refer figure 2.

Figure 1 - Questionnaire result
The *orange* highlights are the result of this questionnaire.

Next, we constructed a Customer Needs Tree based on the questionnaire result.
